Those of you who know me will not find this at all surprising: Sometimes I don’t follow the rules.
Like many of you, I realize that some rules are necessary, and some rules need to be broken.
I was thrilled to be nominated for a 2015 RuleBreaker award. The rule that I am breaking is that I think mid-life career transitions can be amazing, and that there are possibilities for everyone.
In fact, I wrote an eBook about it titled Re-Launch You: Discovering Your Point B and Embracing Possibility.
When I talk to job-search networking groups, it makes me ill when someone says a friend / family member / career counselor told them that they wouldn’t be able to get a job or start a business.
Pardon my French, but that is crap. I have helped professionals land corporate jobs, become consultants, and grow successful businesses – and sometimes boomerang between these options.
The world of work is fluid, and once you realize that, it can be the good news.
